History Committee Members Needed
Ruston High School Alumni Association History Committee
Purpose: The History Committee plays a vital role in collecting, documenting, and sharing the historical milestones, traditions, and stories of Ruston High School. We collaborate closely with the school administration, local historians, and the wider community to ensure that our school’s legacy is remembered and honored.
Our responsibilities extend beyond preservation—we actively organize events and initiatives that celebrate our school’s rich history, including reunions, historical tours, and exhibitions. Our goal is to recognize the spirit and achievements of past generations of Bearcats, inspiring current and future students.
Responsibilities:
Collect, document, and share the historical milestones, traditions, and stories of Ruston High School.
Work closely with the school administration, local historians, and the wider community to honor Ruston High School’s legacy.
Solicit memorabilia for inclusion in the Ruston High School Memorabilia Room and assist staff in maintaining the room.
Organize events and initiatives that celebrate our school’s history, such as historical tours and exhibitions.
Provide regular input and updates during Board Meetings as required.
Nominate a chairperson annually or when a vacancy occurs, presenting the nomination to the Board.
Coordinate with other committees as necessary.
Fulfill additional duties as required by the Board.
Membership: The History Committee comprises general board members and other members of the RHS Alumni Association.
Meetings: Committee meetings are scheduled by the Chairperson as needed or upon request by the Board of Directors. Meetings can be conducted in person or virtually via email, depending on participants’ preferences.
Time Commitment: This position requires a commitment of approximately 5-10 hours per month, including attendance at meetings, committee work, and participation in events.
