James Winnfred Justice Jr.
Jim was born in Ruston on September 11, 1950, and graduated from Ruston High School in 1968. After graduation he attended Louisiana Tech before joining the United States Air Force in January of 1970
After completing basic training and technical school Jim was assigned to the 6948th Security Squadron located on the island of Crete at the Iraklion Air Station. Jim and his unit’s role there was to provide intelligence support, which included gathering, analyzing, and disseminating critical information for national security and military operations.
His unit’s presence in Greece was part of a broader effort to maintain strategic intelligence capabilities in the region, ensuring that the U.S. and its allies had the necessary information to make informed decisions during the Cold War.
Jim’s military decorations included the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one oak leaf cluster.
Jim left the Air Force in February of 1974 after four years and returned to Louisiana Tech where he finished his degree in November of 1977. Jim currently lives in Ruston with his wife Mary.
