Chantelle Renee Melton
Chantelle graduated from Ruston High School in 1997 and joined the Army in 2000 completing Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina then completed Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Eustis, Virginia in 2001
She Deployed overseas in 2010, 2014, 2019 and has served on numerous stateside mobilizations.
In one of her roles, she served as a Victim’s Advocate and Brigade and Battalion SARC for the Army’s SHARP Program for the 1184th Transportation Battalion; 90th Sustainment Brigade and the 8/95th Training Battalion. In the U.S. Army, a Battalion Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) serves as the single point of contact to coordinate sexual assault victim care within a battalion. Under the U.S. Army Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Program she played a vital role in preventing sexual harassment, sexual assault, and associated retaliation within the Army.
Chantelle’s Military Awards and Decorations include the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 10 year Bronze Hourglass, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal with BSS, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officers Professional-Development Ribbon (2nd Award), Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M”Device.
She is still serving her country as an 88 Series MOS instructor with the 8/95th Army Reserves Training Battalion in Bossier City, LA in the rank of Sergeant First Class
Chantelle graduated from Grambling State University with a degree in Criminal Justice and when not serving in the Army Reserves, she works at the Federal Correctional Complex in Pollock, LA as a Senior Officer Specialist.
